SIHANOUKVILLE The Most Expensive Place to Visit and Live in Cambodia

Talking about the most visited cities in Cambodia there are three cities that come to mind, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville. The three cities have their own specialty where you can't find one in another.

Siem Reap should have the name of the most visited city in Cambodia, Phnom Penh as the Capital where many things happen, and Sihanoukville? You rarely find westerners here in Sihanoukville anymore but you are sure to come across Chinese people in everyday life. Maybe the city of Casinos and Nightlife Entertainment.

Which is the Most Expensive City in Cambodia?

It wasn't clear enough many years ago, but it is now settled that it is Sihanoukville the city with the highest cost of living. The city of the beaches, Entertainment, Casinos, Chinatown, Rich Chinese, and newly rich Cambodians show off their wealth and changed the cost of living in the city.

You can expect anything here in Sihanoukville to cost much more than anywhere else in Cambodia. They have reasons or maybe excuses that the cost of renting is too high that they need to sell the products more expensive from food, clothing to about everything.

Hotels, Guesthouses, and renting rooms are more expensive in Sihanoukville as everyone is forming a habit of pricing everything higher. It is becoming steady now and went down a little bit and I hope it could go down further to call back the visitors as people start to realize they can't totally depend on the Chinese anymore.

I have to mention that the renting and foods cost way more expensive in the beach area than near the market. Everyone visiting Sihanoukville complains about the price of food there but they don't bother to care. By this, I don't mean to talk about the restaurant at the beach but be careful the seller along the road often costs higher.

It is easier to come to Sihanoukville

After the new road was launched we've seen more people from Phnom Penh coming to Sihanoukville in just about 2-3 hours. It is now packed with people during the new year the road across the city is in a better condition much better compared to a few years back. But people from Phnom Penh and other provinces still have complaints over the cost of their staying.
